I once heard a story and this story kind of illustrate who we are
There's a rich man who died and on his will he wrote that the son could only take one of his property and the rest should be given to his servant (infact i heard this story in form of a question and i wondered, if i was the son what would i choose?)
The father must be very wicked, what does he expect the son to pick, his house in London, or the fat bank account in ACCESS bank, or his company in Lekki. The son was confused, why did the father do this to him, not like he was doing bad himself but...why this cruelty, did his father hate him all this while.
After much pondering, hmmmm, he chose...(drum roll)... the .... servant!! Yes that's wise right because the servant owned everything, so he owns everything the servant owns, you get?

And recently this thought was inspired
What would you have chosen, the father did that probably because he wanted to test the intelligence of the son.
A lot of us, yes us(me inclusive), would have chosen a property which brings Matthew 6:33 to mind(“But seek ye first his kingdom, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”
Matthew 6:33 ASV). But we miss the whole point "all 'these' things has been put in Christ and God put Christ in us"(i was reminded of this thought at Charis OAU prayer meeting). Christ is the total package, don't make the mistake of chasing after the parcel.
Listening to an audio Bible it was funny to me how John ended 1 John telling the people not to worship idols, i had to check the Bible if i heard right, who ends a letter like that. But then everyday we have to check and ask ourselves "am I following Christ or these other things?" Shalom
