The Spirit of Leadership

The Spirit of Leadership
By Myles Munroe
Published in 2005 by Whitaker House
Everyone of us was born to lead, our first mandate was to dominate the earth (“Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”"
Genesis 1:28 NKJV) but some of us are not fulfilling that mandate and others are doing it the wrong way by ruling over others because we have lost touch with Our Source - God.

A lot of people are reluctant to get a book when they see the word "Leadership" on it because they don't hold a 'leadership position'; naive about the fact that they are made out of 'leadership material' and that reading a book on leadership is studying about yourself- the true you.

Just like the fish swims without stress, the eagle- flies, the monkey-jumps and so on, in the same vein we are to lead without stress.

Leadership is all about Service, Sound Character and the right Attitude - Myles Munroe talks about attitudes a leader should possess : Purpose and Passion, Initiative, Priorities, Goal Setting, Teamwork, Innovation, Accountability, Persistence, Discipline, Self-Cultivation, and the leaders beattitudes.

“Genuine Leadership is the discovery of one’s purpose and assignment for life and the inherent gift and abilities that come with that assignment. It is the commitment to serve your gift to the world in order to enhance the lives of many - Myles Munroe”

He also talked about the Leadership Spirit (the inherent leadership capacity) and the Spirit of Leadership (mind-set that accompany a true leadership spirit) in this book.

Growing up, the true picture of a leader has been painted wrong to us so we have to un-learn to relearn in order to lead in our utmost potential.

"Only when we are renewed in the spirit of our mind will we have the attitude that reflects the mind of our spirit" - Myles Munroe

What's more sad are those with the positions but aren't leading, don't be an 'Ignorant king' who has but considers what he has as nothing.
